Fair access support
You may be eligible for a reduced rate if your household receives a UK-wide benefit, has a low income, or you work in the emergency services or military.
The Support Rate is designed to make practical household budgeting support more accessible. It is not automatic. Every application is manually reviewed before a decision is made.
Applications are not limited to Scottish benefits. UK-wide benefits and tax credits are accepted as an eligibility route. Examples include Universal Credit, Pension Credit, Personal Independence Payment, Disability Living Allowance, Attendance Allowance, Carer's Allowance, Employment and Support Allowance, Jobseeker's Allowance, Housing Benefit, Child Benefit, Child Tax Credit and Working Tax Credit.
| Eligibility route | Examples of evidence | What can be hidden |
|---|---|---|
| Benefit or tax credit award | Recent award letter, online account statement, Universal Credit statement, tax credit notice or benefit payment shown on a bank statement. | National Insurance number, claim reference number, bank account details and unrelated transactions. |
| Low-income household | Recent bank statement, payslip, income statement or a short explanation with supporting evidence. Include all forms of household income and the number of earners in the household. | Account number, sort code, unrelated transactions and private information not needed for the decision. |
| Emergency services or military | Work ID, employer confirmation, payslip with private pay details hidden, Blue Light Card, Defence Discount Service card, veteran ID or other relevant proof. | Payroll numbers, service numbers, pay amounts, addresses, bank details and unrelated personal information. |
Please only send enough evidence to confirm eligibility. Pay Cycle Budgeting UK does not need full bank statements with every transaction visible, claim reference numbers, National Insurance numbers or full account details. Where possible, the outcome is recorded rather than keeping the proof itself.
